We haven’t published cutpoeta’s first release yet. When it’s ready it will be on the download page, the only official place to get it. This guide explains the process for then.
You need a phone running Android 10 or later with a 64-bit (ARM64) processor. Settings names vary a little between phone brands; this guide uses stock Android’s.

Download the official APK
Open the download page in your phone’s browser and tap “Download APK”. Only download it from there: an APK from another site may have been modified.
It’s normal for the browser to warn that this type of file can harm your device; it does that for any APK. If you downloaded it from cutpoeta.com, confirm the download.
Check the file is the original
Each release will come with its SHA-256 fingerprint, a 64-character string that identifies the file. If your file’s fingerprint matches the one on the download page, you have exactly the APK we published, neither damaged nor modified.
The easiest way to work it out is to copy the APK to a computer and run this in the file’s folder:
Windows: certutil -hashfile cutpoeta.apk SHA256
macOS: shasum -a 256 cutpoeta.apk
Linux: sha256sum cutpoeta.apk
On the phone, a file manager that calculates checksums works too. If the fingerprint doesn’t match, don’t install the file: delete it and download it again.
Let your browser install apps
Android only installs apps from outside Google Play if you give permission to the app you open the APK from, usually your browser. When you open the file, Android usually shows a prompt with a “Settings” button: turn on “Allow from this source” and go back.
If the prompt doesn’t appear, find the permission in Settings › Apps › your browser › Install unknown apps.
Install and open cutpoeta
Open the APK from the download notification or the Downloads folder and tap “Install”. Because the app doesn’t come from Google Play, Play Protect may offer to scan it first; that’s fine.
When it’s done, tap “Open”. If you like, turn the permission from the previous step off again: cutpoeta doesn’t need it to run, though you’ll need it again to install updates.
If the app won’t install
If Android says “App not installed”, or that there was a problem parsing the package, it’s usually one of these:
- The phone isn’t supported. cutpoeta needs Android 10 or later and a 64-bit (ARM64) processor; it can’t be installed on 32-bit phones or older Android versions. Check your version in Settings › About phone.
- The file is incomplete or damaged. Check its SHA-256 fingerprint (step 2) and download it again.
- A version of cutpoeta from somewhere else is installed. Android won’t install over an app signed by someone else. You’d have to uninstall it first, and uninstalling it deletes the projects saved in it, because cutpoeta keeps them only on the phone.
- There’s no space left. Free up some space on the phone and try again.
How to update
Download the new version from the download page, check its fingerprint and install it over the old one. Your projects are kept.
